The new museum is on the side of a hill, on a triangular-shaped, slightly sloping site near the shore of Dongqian Lake. The volume rises free-standing, almost without openings, clad in black corrugated aluminium sheet. This forms a smooth, compact body with two rounded corners (the result of the extrusion of the first floor), almost triangular in shape.
