Nadir Afonso Foundation, Chaves - Álvaro Siza

The Nadir Alfonso Foundation is in the town of Chaves, on a plot of land on the right bank of the River Támega. It forms part of the Polis Programme. The area reserved for the building is in Longras, in the parish of Santa Maria Maior, within the future riverside park. The site was defined as a rectangle, parallel to the riverbed, and bounded by a new pedestrian and cycle path (parallel to Avenida 5 de Outubro, to the northwest), Avenida Dr Mário Soares (to the northeast), a new street parallel to Rua das Longras (to the southwest) and the course of the river (to the sout heast).
