Damià Jaume's Studio - AULETS

The project began with the decision to construct a cistern to collect rainwater from the roof of the house. Once work on the cistern had commenced, the opportunity was taken to build a new painting studio. Situated on the outskirts of Palma, the plot has been absorbed into the accelerated urban expansion that has reshaped the city over the past decade. If the former studio occupied an upper floor with views to the Mallorca landscape, the new one deliberately reorients itself downward, towards the immediacy of the ground — towards what lies closest.
