"Architects have always been anxious to publish their work &mdashbe it in book form, as a monograph or as a scoop in a magazine&mdash not only to promote their flair but above all, to disseminate their concerns, ideas, ideals and theories. For some, however, experiencing the physical outcome of the long thinking and negotiating process that is architecture requires considerable effort: situating the object, hitting the road (if not traveling), finding it and pleading for access. Although a publication can never substitute the live encounter with a building or a site &mdashwith all its impressions, sensations, anecdotes and emotions&mdash printed architecture has become increasingly popular, even in a digitalized age, with e-books, e-channels and e-mailed pdf’s."
