Fátima Chapel

Located in Acapulco, Guerrero, the Fátima Chapel emerges as an architectural gesture with deep connections to the social and emotional context of a wounded community. Following the devastating hurricanes Otis and John, which left behind not only material losses but a spiritual and collective void, this intervention is part of the Kon-Tigo initiative, promoted by our studio, with the aim of restoring a space for gathering, consoling one another, and rebuilding the community fabric.

Beyond its religious function, the chapel is designed as an open social mechanism: a public space that can intertwine worship and everyday life, introspection and celebration. The design is based on a circular plan, without hierarchies, that welcomes everyone equally, evoking a form of ancestral gathering: the circle as a symbol of unity, inclusion, and continuity.
