Girsberger House in Múnster-Geschinen
Girsberger House is located in the village of Münster-Geschinen, in the upper part of Wallis Canton. The village is characterised by its sun-darkened buildings, set close to each other. The houses, stables and barns are all built in larch wood from the local forests. The barns rest on logs to raise them off the ground, and eloquently express the vibrant sculptural potential of the local timber buildings.
We wanted to generate the intrinsic dynamics of this type of construction, in this new house as well, in both its outward and inner aspects. Our approach was like that of a sculptor: carving the material and gradually emptying the object in order to shape an animated form.
