Whether as the balustrades, railings and lamps that make up the fine decorative grain of streetscapes and parks, or the grills and ground covers that mark its heavy infrastructure, the details of London’s urban fabric reveal themselves through the material of cast iron. Set in the heart of Mayfair, the shopfront for Paul Smith builds on this tradition, reinterpreting the ornamental language of the eighteenth-century facade as a sinuous pattern of interlocking cast iron circles.
