FAQ – El Croquis Digital Library

1. What is the El Croquis Digital Library?

The El Croquis Digital Library is an online reading platform that enables institutions to access the full content of the volumes published by El Croquis while the subscription remains active.

Access is provided through a web-based reader, with no need to install additional software.

The institutional subscription:

  • Grants access to the complete digital editorial archive. You may consult the list of included volumes on our website.

  • Is subject to a number of concurrent licences (simultaneous users), which determine the subscription fee.

Access is available exclusively while the subscription is valid.

2. What is the institutional access method?

The institution provides us with the public IP ranges from which users will connect. The system automatically recognises these IP addresses and grants access without the need for individual usernames and passwords.

Once the requested IPs have been registered, users must visit www.elcroquisdigital.com and select the volume they wish to read in order to access the full content.

3. Concurrent licences (simultaneous users)

Institutional subscriptions include a defined number of simultaneous accesses: 1, 5, 10 or unlimited.

If the concurrent licence limit is exceeded:

  • New users will receive a message indicating that the maximum number of accesses has been reached.

  • They must wait until another user closes their session.

If the institution considers that the number of simultaneous accesses is insufficient, an upgrade may be requested.

4. Printing and downloading content

The Digital Library is an online reading environment.

For copyright reasons:

  • Downloading or printing of volumes is not permitted.

  • Access is provided exclusively through the web reader.

For full-volume downloads, other specific modalities are available (e.g. Adobe-type subscriptions), which are not part of the standard Digital Library.

5. Usage data and statistics

The platform does not currently provide a statistics collection system, for reasons related to user privacy.

6. Proxy configuration

Proxy configuration for off-campus access is the sole responsibility of the institution. Therefore, we cannot guarantee correct configuration on the institution’s side.

We have established an appropriate stanza for proper operation via EZproxy, which can be consulted here.

In general, for any proxy configuration:

  • The public IP address of the proxy server must be provided to us.

  • The proxy must be correctly configured by the institution’s technical team.

In cases of partial access (sample content only), this is usually due to:

  • An IP address not correctly registered.

  • Incorrect proxy configuration.

  • Access outside the authorised IP range.

In the event of any access issue, we recommend first verifying the IP address from which the connection is being made. Please also ensure that the following domains are authorised:

  • api-elcroquisdigital.com

  • free-croquis-pro.s3.eu-west-3.amazonaws.com

  • documents-croquis-pro.s3.eu-west-3.amazonaws.com

7. Changes to IP ranges

If the institution modifies:

  • Its public IP ranges,

  • The IP address of the proxy server,

  • Its network provider,

It is essential to inform El Croquis so that the configuration can be updated.

Until the information is updated, access may be limited or blocked.

8. Changes to institutional contact details

In order to maintain smooth communication, it is important to notify us of any changes to:

  • The person responsible for the subscription,

  • Email address,

  • Managing department,

  • Administrative or fiscal details.

This helps prevent issues related to renewals, invoicing or technical communications.

9. Renewals and subscription validity

Institutional subscriptions are valid for one year (unless otherwise specifically agreed).

Access to the Digital Library:

  • Remains active during the contracted period.

  • Is automatically deactivated if the subscription is not renewed.

If you have any questions regarding the status of your subscription, please contact our subscriptions department.

10. Frequent issues

Some common issues and their usual causes:

Access to sample content only
→ IP not recognised, subscription expired, or concurrent licence limit exceeded.

Message indicating maximum users reached
→ The concurrent licence limit has been exceeded.

Access works on campus but not off campus
→ Proxy not correctly configured or access restricted to institutional IP ranges.

In the event of an issue, we recommend providing:

  • The IP address from which the test is being made.

  • A screenshot of the error message.

  • The name of the institution.

  • The URL from which access is being attempted.
