This project restores the ruins of an old castle to insert a cultural programme focused on the cooking theme. The project activates the castle courtyard and inserts the programme on both sides, reviving this void for use in local festive events. The entrance is via the porch. The kitchen, the exhibition hall and the projection or discussion room are on one side, with the workshops for guest artists, children and administration rooms on the other.
This art centre, set on the ruins of a castle, implements the architecture of grafting more than any other project. Ruins, a landscape, an existing building... they all require a frank relationship between what exists and what is wanted to coexist with it. Not to exist alongside or back-to-back with it: coming into existence with it, establishing a new landscape, a new building that inscribes a new era which will itself, in turn, be superseded.
