Yoshino Cedar House
Nara, Japan
This project was an opportunity to review in conjunction with Airbnb the relationship between hosts and house guests. Yoshino cedar is renowned for its beautiful delicate grain, the result of tree growth in unusually dense plantations. Cooperation with the city of Yoshino and its local carpenters allowed this wood to be used in this house, initially built for the House Vision 2016 exhibition in Tokyo. Afterwards, it was relocated to its current site on the bank of the Yoshino River.
