Qaysariyah Suq
The Qaysariyah Suq market and the Amarat Fahkro buildings played an important role in Bahrein’s pearling economy. They contained coffee shops where some of the pearl purchasing deals took place, and also received and stored timber used to build the pearling fleet.
In both cases, the renovation of the Amarat Fahkro and the new stores for the Qaysariyah suq, we continue to build using the characteristic forms of traditional coral stone. The new suq shops are built with concrete elements, cast in sand, unconstrained by formwork along the edges.
